My take: A cycle-life number without its depth-of-discharge is marketing, and a "safety certified" claim without the named standard is vague — both need their conditions to mean anything.

What drives this: Cycle count and safety are both condition-dependent, yet they are routinely quoted as bare numbers. The buyer who asks "at what DoD, temperature and rate" for cycle life, and "which standard" for safety, is the one who actually gets a comparable figure.
